Flying to Henstridge:

Two main points to bear in mind:

  1. The safe conduct of your flight overrides all other considerations.

  2. If you are happy to join and land from an abbreviated circuit, then that is best for noise abatement.  If you prefer a standard overhead join & circuit, please do so.

PLAN A:

Telephone Ops (01963.364231) on the day with this map in front of you.  We can then advise you according to the runway in use, and any other factors concerning the day.

PLAN B - proceed as follows:

Runway 25 - Right hand.

  1. Joining from the East, plan your route to a point on the A30 about 4 miles or so East of the field - marked E on the map.  Keep the A30 on your right and you will be led in on long final.  Overhead joins are acceptable, but see the note below.

  2. From other directions, join for an abbreviated circuit, or overhead if you wish.

Note: If you need to extend downwind, and therefore need to overfly the high ground to the East of the field you should follow the dotted line, and cross the ridge at 1200' QFE.  Continue to the river, turn South and continue as above from E.

Runway 07 - normally Right hand, but could be Left if the circuit is busy.

  1. Joining from the West, plan to arrive via W and make a long final approach with a jink to the right as you approach the touchdown.  The built-up area on short final is mainly industrial.  Overhead joins are acceptable, but do not overfly any part of the avoid areas around Henstridge village or Higher Marsh, regardless of height.

  2. From other directions, join for an abbreviated circuit, or overhead if you wish. Take care not to be blown over the extended centre line as you turn from base on to final approach, or you will infringe the Higher Marsh area.
